Masonic Membership

Membership of the Old Edwardian Lodge of Stourbridge, 6141, is no longer restricted to old boys of the school.

Any male over the age of 21 years may apply to be considered for masonic Initiation. There is dispensation of the sons of Freemasons to join at an earlier age. The son of a Freemason is called "A Lewis".

All candidates for Initiation must profess a belief in a Supreme Being - this is not limited to a Christian God, with membership open to members of all faiths.

All candidates for Freemasonry Initiation must be of a high moral character and consequently require a Proposer and Seconder who are members of the Lodge.

All masonic candidates will be interviewed by members of the Lodge Committee prior to the Lodge conducting a ballot.

The lodge members will require notice of a candidates application and will vote using a system of white and black balls. Each lodge varies but during the vote or ballot and number of black balls will result in exclusion. Hence the phrase "black balled".

If all these stages are completed successfully then the candidate will be Initiated at a meeting convenient to the lodge.
